On December 5, a roundtable discussion on "Creating a Unified Legal Framework for Tourism in the Commonwealth of Independent States: Challenges, Best Practices, and Prospects" was held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, as part of the International Petersburg Tourism Forum – Travel Hub 2024.
The event brought together official representatives from CIS member states, international organizations, and tourism industry professionals, as well as experts in international law and tourism.
Kenan Guluzade, Advisor to the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, addressed the forum, providing insights on visa regimes between Azerbaijan and other countries, joint tourism routes with regional partners, and human resource development in the tourism sector.
He also emphasized the importance of Eurasian Mountain Resort Alliance, the Union of Ski Resorts of Turkic States, Silk Road tourism routes, and the development of cruise tourism in the Caspian Sea, highlighting their role in fostering bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Azerbaijan proposed the creation of the "Tourism Educational Network", a networking platform aimed at bringing together industry professionals, facilitating the training of tourism specialists, and ensuring educational programs align with modern industry demands.
The discussions at the roundtable covered key topics such as enhancing tourism cooperation among CIS countries, establishing international tourism routes, improving service quality and safety standards, and developing a unified tourism space in the region.
